Spoke to an ex-colleague's sister today. Ah Nya (the sister's name) had worked for a Professor Ong Peck Leong, who is now the Institute of Neurological Science in TTSH for some years as his staff nurse. She highly recommended him as he vastly experienced. She was very kind to offer to help ease the initial discussions with the doctor by being there when we first make appointment.
I did not call Wee Kiat on sunday but will try Monday, Jan 14 and then compare notes with all before decision. Also to call will be head nurse Lee and AK's nurse to make appointment, possibly for Tuesday, Jan 15

cc Jaymes - better take care of your health. Without your health, nothing i possible and not just mum, absolutely nothing is possible if we are sick. You should take the vitamin supplements and the Vit C (1,000 mg) as these can help build your resistance, especially in a hospital environment. You need to also tell me well before funds are running low.

don't worry and don't feel about it as, we all do understand your situation and how every member of the family feel right now.
For those who are far away we need your prayers and for those who are near like my family, we will try to help in whatever way possible - she is my SISTER.
yesterday, 11/01/08 (Friday) was transferred to the general ward - 4Th floor, bed 418 (2-bedded @ RM105-00 per day.
Off all tubes with the exception of tube for feeding and the tube for urine disposal. yesterday she was put on a wheelchair and able to support her neck for a couple of hours. kai shen talked to her for about 1 hr + and she was listening attentively but did not speak, unlike Thursday when she was very responsive.
Dr Ak came just now - 12/01/08 evening - he said mum did not respond well to oral feeding - just wondering whether the nurse was patient in the oral feeding, as it takes time.
Reported to Dr Ak about mum's pain at the elbow of the left hand, whenever we try to straighten - he checked and said will get the orthopedic to check and if need be to get an x-ray done. Both legs cold - so got her to wear socks.
Today less responsive - maybe she hear less noise and see less people - only 2-bedded and she hardly get to see her neighbour - curtain drawn. whereas in the HDU - more activity going around. But when I whispered father's name, she responded with a wide smile.
This Seh Hui is getting too paranoid since mum was transferred to general ward so much so, he will not come to my house to take dinner (instead pack dinner from my house and eat-in) afraid to leave mum alone lest she get ill-treated by the nurses. She is transferred to the general ward only when the doctor thinks she is ready and stable. I think this is not healthy for him - should at least come out of the hospital and take a break. He is even sleeping overnight in the hospital. We should also trust the nurses too, we can't be with her 24-hour - what happens when u are currently working?? No matter how, things should work out in one way or another. If he goes on like this - he will break-down and then who will be taking care of mum then??
Chui Fen, take your time and plan properly because u also need to take care of the kids, your work with john etc etc..............
7Th and 8Th February 2008 (Thursday and Friday) - Chinese new year.
So now we should be concentrating on orally feeding her and put her on wheelchair.
2and report from Singapore should be ready by next week.
PRAY THAT IT WILL BE TUMOUR FREE AND SPEEDY RECOVERY FOR MUM!!! YEAH!!!
MAY GOD BLESS ALL
LOVE
Stephanie
