It is 24th December 2007,Christmas Eve.Mum had severe brain stroke. Before the brain attack mum always stress up and not remembering things. She even forget to close tap water after washing dishes. She accidentally broken a digital radio in the dining room too. I remembered when she first wake up after the head operation, she asked me what is this place and why she is here. She lost all of her pronouns and preposition during the conversation with us.The family become more united after mum suffered this stroke and i pray for her recovery.I wiped and cried hard at night when everyone is asleep,my pillow suffer much punch from me.In my mind, mother can make it is because she still want to see us success in life.Second is due to the thoughts and prayers of the people i have named, and have not named here in this whole blog.

The spreadsheet has 3 portions for now. I have attached latest one for today (with observations for Jan 1). Latest progress is not as positive - there is some brain swelling and mum is now on steroids. The brain swelling is causing drowsiness.
No, we did not stay in hospital over the new year's eve. Dad and Seh Hui are leaving earlier these days at about 11 pm or earlier so as to get some good rest.
Seh Hui and Dad are getting rest daily. We at least remind each other to do so. Seh Hui is playing a major role in taking care of JB home and also ensuring that Dad is having his proper meals (breakfast, lunch at home and dinner at Uncle Hew's). All this in addition to shuttling between home and hospital to visit mum and now exercising her as taught by physio therapist.
I will be back at work tomorrow (Jan 2) but will visit nights and also set appointment for reviewing the histology report, scans, medicine and next steps, hopefully by Friday, Jan 4.
Aunty Stephanie
thanks for following up on Ah Tin. Lets see whether she will work out ok with Hsiao Wei's family. If for some unfortunate reason she does not work out with them and Ah Tin does not mind working with us and being primary care giver to Mum and domestic help, we can certainly consider her. Her familiarity with mum is a big positive, I think. Thank you..

This looks like a completely different spreadsheet â€" consisting of info from appointment with Dr Khan, not the daily log. Thank you for doing that too, though. All this detail will be helpful later on I hope. You are getting adequate rest and taking care of yourself I hope. And dad and Seh Hui too? Did you spend New Year's Eve at the hospital?

OK, here is latest spreadsheet. please feel free to add to comments especially daily log for thur and fri last week (I cannot recall as much detail). do note that for wach day, I am trying to have 2 std items
- AK's review and comments and
- mum's progress
I want to thank all of you for chipping in to help out. All of us are making adjustments to our lives knowing that the road ahead is going to be very tough To Hew family for reacting quickly, mum owes her life to all of you. To Aunty Ivy, your love is bottomless; we can only hope to emulate a fraction of you dedication and commitment!. Even Seh Hui has surely been impacted very much; I must say Seh Hui has matured tremedously in last week or so!
Thank you all for the kind words and prayers and selfless and quiet actions..........very much appreciate it all.

Thanks for going to visit her. I wish I could be there instantly. For now, I am keeping in touch with See Hong daily, and I think the next critical milestone will be when we get a definite diagnosis for mom as to what caused the brain bleed. Since it will take some arrangements for me to go there and I don’t know how long I can stay for (with all my family obligations here also), I will need to try to time my visit well,so I want to wait for that diagnosis before I make any definite arrangements. The kids only know that mom had brain bleed and surgery and is in hospital, but do not know about possibility of tumour. I do not want to say anything until we know for sure what we are dealing with.
I am constantly thinking of her and also think of the last time I spoke with her. I was talking to her about her immigration experience from China to Malaysia,it was like an interview for a project that Mikaela was doing for school. It was a wonderful conversation, and even I learnt a little more about her childhood and experiences. I don't think this will fully sink in for me until I actually see her. I feel helpless but hopeful, and prayerful. I may not know how mom fits into the big plan that God has and do not fully understand why these things happen to good people but I know that God is in control. I pray for a miracle, but know and trust His bigger vision and longer term (eternal) plan for her because He is a loving God.

Went to see your mum twice. We all hope and pray she will wake up and be her normal herself. again. It would be good if you could arrange a trip home to see her.
Bye. Love Ivy

Good amount of detail, hopefully this will be useful in keeping tabs on
mum's progress. We will need to designate Aunty Steph as official
cheerleader for mum since she always manages to find something to tickle her
funny bone!
When you met Dr Khan late at 11 pm, what did he say? The only comment from
Dr Khan on the spreadsheet for that day was at 6 pm regarding more urine
than usual.
Do you still have your appointment with him on Sunday at noon?
I think other questions to be answered/noted:
* Names and amounts of medication she is taking daily
* What therapy she has now, how many times and description of exercise
and is there specific exercises we can help her do
* What are the various types of scans that have been done so far and
what those scans show
* Of course lab results. What can be ruled out as far as what caused
the bleeding?
* Prior to meeting with Dr Khan, it may be useful to try to piece as
complete a picture of her symptoms prior to her surgery from all who may
know something - when she started complaining of headaches, vision issues
and other health issues. These are things that a doctor would ask a patient
but since mum cannot speak for herself for now, maybe being able to present
this info would be useful as far as trying to rule out/confirm cause??

here is file for further input from all.
Kristy - we managed to meet with Dr Ahmad Khan late tonight....almost 11 pm
before we all went home. spoke briefly - see his comments in spreadsheet
